4 Things You Can Do to Beautify Your Patio Doors

Old patio doors, if not properly maintained, can detract from the beauty of your home and patio or deck. From peeling paint to dirt and grime, old patio doors face many aesthetic challenges.

You can achieve elegance again. Either by performing smart maintenance or by installing all new doors, you can make your patio a focal point of your home once again.

#1. Hang New Curtains on Your Patio Doors

New curtains can completely change the appearance of your patio doors without making any changes to the doors themselves. Single layer curtains made from natural materials are popular this year. Replace your old curtains with bright fabrics that allow light transmission into the room to keep your home’s interior cheerful, airy, and inviting.

#2. Start a Weekly Patio Door Washing Routine

You can never wash the glass in your patio doors too often, especially if you live in a home with young children or pets. Wash your patio doors weekly to remove fingerprints or nose prints (if you a own a dog). Use standard commercially available glass cleaner, or make your own glass cleaner with 1 part rubbing alcohol, 2 parts vinegar and 4 parts water.

Here’s a good cleaning routine:

  1. Dust the windows first to make cleaning easiter.
  2. Spray the windows so that the glass surface is generously covered in cleaner.
  3. Wipe the glass with a clean microfiber cloth.

#3. Spruce Up Landscaping Around Your Patio Doors

Place potted plants or actual landscaping in the vicinity of your patio doors to make the view around your doors more attractive. What kind of landscaping? Healthy flowers that bloom throughout the summer add a pop of color to your patio and doors. Plants like lavender, cone flowers or hydrangeas, with long-lasting blossoms, make your patio doors beautiful month in and month out.

#4. Install New Patio Doors

Well made and maintained patio doors can last up to 30 years, but when they reach the end of their service life, they’re best replaced. New patio doors are beautiful because they function properly and require little maintenance to look their best.
