Creating a Multi-pane Window Display for Fall

If you have multi-pane windows and multi-pane glass in your doors, it can be awkward to have a holiday display with them.  The grilles from the multiple panes can decrease the look of any display that is set up behind it, like in a bay window or on a table next to the window.  The grilles break up the display and are a distraction to the people looking at your display from the outside.

The grilles also make it difficult to decorate the window itself.  You can’t put any large fall scenes on the windows without the grilles breaking it up.  You also can’t hang a wreath or any fall garland on either side of the window or door, without the grilles blocking the view from the opposite side they are displayed on.  If you put the decorations on the outside, you can’t see them from the inside of the house.  If you put them on the inside, people passing by your house won’t be able to see them.

Is there any way to display fall décor in your multi-pane window for all to see?  Yes, there is.  You just have to adjust to the design of your multi-pane window display.

One Pane at a Time

With a multi-pane window, the best way to display fall décor is one pane at a time.  What this means, is that in each pane you will put a decoration that works as a stand-alone piece of décor.  For example, one pane may have an acorn wreath, another pane may have a frame in the shape of a pumpkin that is made from twigs, and another frame may have a stick with fall leaves and berries on it.

By decorating each pane as its own space, the grilles actually work to your favor to provide a clear separation between each display.  But, at the same time because they all have the same fall theme, they look good as a larger display also.

Attaching Your Multi-pane Window Decorations

With windows, you can attach decorations with suction cups that have hooks, hang them off a non-glass part of the window or with tape.  Unfortunately, with multi-pane windows there is not enough room to use the suction cup hooks and you really aren’t going to want to put nails and thumbtacks in your grilles.

This leaves you with using tape; which will work fine because the decorations that you put in your multi-pane windows will be small and not too heavy for the tape to work.
