Decorating With Vintage Stained Glass Windows

We have talked about the many ways you can decorate with vintage windows for everything from holiday decorations to garden décor.  Most of these ideas included using a vintage window that had plain clear glass, and in most cases you decorated the frame or glass to give it personality.  With vintage stained glass windows, these windows already have a personality of their own, all you have to do is hang them and enjoy their beauty.

Vintage Stained Glass Ceiling Decorations

There are many ways you can hang vintage stained glass windows in your home.  You can do it the easy way and hang them on the wall or in front of a fixed window, or you can get creative with them.  If you have an open floor plan with high ceilings, hang the stained glass windows from the ceiling at the invisible edge of what you distinguish as two different rooms.

For example, if you only have a bar that separates your living room from your kitchen hang the stained glass windows above the bar.  This creates a beautiful, elevated boundary line to further designate the kitchen from the living room.

Vintage Stained Glass Porch Decoration

Stained glass vintage windows aren’t just for the inside of your house either.  These windows make great decorations for your patio, as well.  With sturdy chains to hold them in place they can be hung in the middle of the posts holding up the patio roof or they can be hung on the side of the back porch if there are supports to attach them to.

With using these vintage stained glass windows on the patio though, you want to make sure they are placed in a spot that has at least some protection from the weather and that they are very securely attached to where you have them hanging.  You don’t want the first windstorm that blows through after you put them up to break them.

Vintage Stained Glass Room Divider

In addition to being able to hang these windows from the ceiling to create an elevated room divider, you can also attach multiple windows together and hang them from ceiling to floor to create and glass wall.  These types of vintage stained glass window walls are an artistic way to divide a home office off from the rest of a larger room, a craft room from a dining room, or even to create additional privacy in a reading nook.
