FAQs About Renewal by Andersen® Replacement Windows

Why are our products your best choice for window installation? We’ve compiled the answers to the most common questions we encounter about our replacement windows:

Why Should We Replace Old Windows?

Old windows lack innovative features that improve energy efficiency and are low maintenance. They don’t have advanced glazing to reflect unwanted solar heat and damaging ultraviolet rays without rejecting daylight.

What Is Low-E Glass?

Low-emissivity, or Low-E, glass is a type of glazing that utilizes a microscopically thin, metallic oxide layer on the surface of one or more panes. It’s designed to minimize heat radiation from the warmer glass sheet to the cooler one, lowering the U-factor of the overall unit.

Our windows feature spectrally selective, multi-layer Low-E glass, which has more layers than ordinary Low-E-coated units. Our products are the best choice for window installation because they maximize visible light transfer while blocking the unwanted portions of the solar spectrum.

What Framing Material Do You Use?

We use our patented Fibrex® composite material. Made from reclaimed wood fibers and proprietary polymers, Fibrex offers the best of wood and vinyl without their downsides. That means its weathertight seal holds well under extreme changes in temperature and doesn’t decay so upkeep is minimal.

How Energy-Efficient Are Your Windows?

Our most efficient option, the Low-E4® SmartSun™ glass, reflects 72% of infrared and 95% of ultraviolet (UV) rays while pulling in 65% of visible light. To put things into perspective, it’s 70% and 49% more energy-efficient in summer and winter, respectively, compared to ordinary dual-pane windows.

What Window Warranty Coverage Do You Provide?

Our custom windows come with stellar, transferrable guarantees, including a 20-year warranty on glass and Fibrex components. Since we do everything from start to finish, our window installation is protected with a 5-year workmanship warranty.
