If you’re deciding to get replacement windows in CT, you don’t have to limit yourself to getting the same style of windows if they need to be replaced. There are a lot of window style options available that will add beauty and functionality to your home.

This is why we at Renewal by Andersen® have prepared this 2-part guide on window styles to help you make the right choice for your home. For those of you who don’t know, there are several styles you can consider, including:

  • Awning windows
  • Bow and bay windows
  • Double hung windows
  • Gliding windows
  • Picture windows
  • Casement windows

In this first part, we will be discussing three specific styles, namely: awning windows, bow and bay windows, and double hung windows.

Awning Windows

This versatile window style allows added ventilation with an expanded view of the outside. It was also designed to fit right into any room of the house.

RbA’s awning windows are made by a single pane of glass, which is framed using Fibrex®, our advanced composite material. The hinges of these windows are found at the top of the window, and open from the bottom.

Bow and Bay Windows

For large areas of your house, like the living room, space is the key to comfort. Space can generate a warm and inviting aura. This is where bow and bay windows can contribute to your home. Installing these windows is a great way to add space to your living areas.

Bay windows curve outward from the exterior walls. This creates additional space for your interior. From the exterior of your home, these windows can draw attention because of the detailed, vivid lines, so aside from interior space, you get an additional boost the aesthetic appeal of your home.

Bow windows provide the same kind of outward curve by being comprised of four or more window panels.

Double Hung Windows

This window style is a common choice for homeowners in the US. These windows are designed with two sashes (found at the top and bottom of the window) that both open to provide your home with additional ventilation.

Unlike most double hung windows, RbA double hung windows are designed to tilt inward which makes maintenance easier for you.
