Add Leaves to Your Fall Curtains

Whoever thought up putting fall leaves on a string and making it fall leaf ivy was a genius.  Fall leaf ivy can be used to decorate almost anything that doesn’t move during the fall.  Once something is wrapped with it, it goes from being everyday ordinary to instant fall.

It can be wrapped around banisters, railings, pillars, and most of all curtains.

Instant Fall Curtain

If you keep your curtains or drapes in the open position all the time, and use blinds or other window treatments to cover your windows, this decorating idea is for you.

Purchase enough fall leaf ivy to be able to be wrapped around your curtain at least three times.  When you wrap it around, you want it to show 2-3 times in the front of the curtain.

To start, attach the end of the ivy to the top of the curtain on one of the edges where it can’t be seen.  The best thing to use to attach the ivy is a small safety pin.  As you loosely wrap the ivy around the curtain, continue to attach it to the curtain discreetly on the edges.

Once you finally reach the bottom, secure the ivy on the bottom of the curtain as well.

Fall Curtain Valances

If you actively use your curtains, decorating them the way described above will not work because of how the ivy prevents the curtain from being opened.  However, if you have a valance above your curtain you can create the same fall decoration; while at the same time having use of your curtains.

The difference with the valance is that you will not need to attach the ivy to the material; gravity will keep the fall leaf ivy in place for you in this case.

To start, attach the end loop of the fall leaf ivy on the curtain rod itself.  Wrap the ivy loosely around the valance 2-3 times and then attach the end of the ivy on the other end of the valance to the curtain rod.

You can also enhance the fall curtain valance by attaching fall swags in the center of the valance or where the fall leaf ivy comes back to the top of the valance.  To make sure that the swag is secure, attach the swag to the curtain rod.  If you want to a single, large swag, place it on the wall above the valance.
