Maximizing Comfort with Your Bedroom Windows

With the weather getting ready to heat up in Cincinnati for the summer, it is important that you have a comfortable sleeping area and your windows are your best source to keep your room comfortable.  A decent night of sleep keeps your body healthy, your stress levels down, and keeps you going for the full day without the need for a nap.

If your room is too warm or too bright, you most likely are not getting the restful night of sleep you need.

Good Bedroom Window Treatments Keep You in the Dark

Many people have a hard time sleeping if there is too much light in a room.  With the longer days during the summer, getting your needed 8 hours of sleep can be next to impossible if you are one of these people, because there is just not 8 hours of good darkness.

So as we do so many times, if Mother Nature won’t cooperate then we take matters in to our own hands.  Instead of waiting for it to get dark naturally, make your room dark with dark window treatments.

Now, the type of window treatment you use is very, very important.  You can’t just use any cheap, window blind and call it good.  Most window treatments are designed to just cover the window for privacy, not necessarily to keep all of the light out of the room.

You need to look for window treatments that are labeled with the words “room darkening” or “blackout”.  These types of window treatments are made with thicker material so that they not only prevent people from looking in; they prevent light from getting in.  Really good bedroom window treatments make your room so dark that you will need to turn your light on to see in the room in the middle of the day.

Go Energy-Efficient for Bedroom Windows

No one likes the air conditioner blowing on them all the time, especially when they are trying to sleep.  Unfortunately, having the air on in the summer is a necessity to keep it cool enough to be able to sleep.

However, by replacing your old windows with energy-efficient bedroom windows you will get to enjoy a cooler bedroom with the air blowing on your less of the time.  This is because energy-efficient windows are created to keep the hot, summer air out of the house and the cool, air-conditioned air in the house without the air conditioner having to run all the time.

And not only will you be able to sleep better at night, you will get to enjoy a lower energy bill each month.
