Our Environmental Milestones, Part 2: Sustainable Efforts

As industry leaders, we have a huge role to play in protecting our environment. According to studies, the average American home emits more carbon than the average automobile. It also uses more energy. To help make homes more sustainable and environment-friendly, Renewal by Andersen® and our parent company, Andersen® Corporation, participate in numerous third-party programs. This guarantees that our doors and windows in Connecticut and the rest of the country are part of the solution.

Environmental Milestones

Environmental Product Declaration

Last year, Andersen Corporation released our first Environmental Product Declaration for our double-hung windows. For the past four years, we have worked alongside a collaborative group of industry leaders to develop the window Product Category Rules (PCR). These rules help us reduce environmental impact in a manner that is consistent across companies.

As Renewal by Andersen’s representative in the local region, we uphold the same level of commitment to our environment. We install top-quality Andersen windows in CT, made from sustainable materials. For instance, our Fibrex® frames consist of reclaimed wood fiber and special polymer formulation that helps our windows become stronger and more insulated. They also come with High-Performance™ Low-E4® glass that helps reduce energy loss and boost your protection against UV rays.

Third-Party Certifications and Associations

To further enhance our efforts to create a more sustainable environment for families, we partner with some of the country’s leading environmental organizations. They include:

  • National Fenestration Council (NFRC) – This third-party certification program is responsible for ensuring credible window performance rating and labeling. Our doors and windows display their label, which means they meet all NFRC requirements.

  • ENERGY STAR®  –  With the goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions, this organization identifies and promotes energy-efficient products. All of our Connecticut windows and doors exceed ENERGY STAR criteria, making them one of your most efficient choices.

  • National Environmental Performance Track Initiative (NEPRI) – Due to our optimum commitment to the environment, the environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized us as a charter member of the NEPRI.

We are also an active member of EPA’s Project XL and the Alliance to Save Energy organization. In addition, our products meet the Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program certification. All of these make us your most reliable partner for sustainable home improvement.
