Understanding Our Environmentally Sustainable Manufacturing Process

Renewal by Andersen® recognizes its responsibility to conserve our natural resources. This is why we incorporate the “reduce-reuse-recycle” mantra in making your windows and doors. Here is how we manufacture products using an environmentally sustainable process.

Understanding Our Environmentally Sustainable Manufacturing Process

Sourcing and Transporting Wood

We source 70% our woods only from managed forests, recycled sources, and products derived from waste materials. The woods are transported using rail instead of trucks to help reduce carbon emissions. This way, we make sure our Huntington windows and doors are sustainable yet of quality.

Milling the Wood

In 1991, Renewal by Andersen developed Fibrex, which is made of the excess wood from manufacturing. This exclusive frame material offers numerous features, including high durability, moisture and heat resistance, stiffness, and thermal insulating properties. Since it was introduced, we have saved approximately 90 million board feet of lumber.

Exterior Coating and Packaging

Our wood components are treated and coated so that they won’t decay easily. We only use coatings with little to no content of TRI chemicals, HAPs and chlorinated solvents. Furthermore, we re-evaluate and reuse damaged components in other process, which reduces our solid waste.

Transportation to Distributors

We are a member of the Environment Protection Agency’s (EPA) SmartWay® Transport Program. This program tracks our vehicles’ fleet driving performance, excess idle time, emissions, and other measures. Their standards also lead us to better fuel efficiency when transporting our products.

Create an Environmentally Friendly Home with Renewal by Andersen
